Default Help with Diagnosis needed

OK. I have been hearing this weird noise lately and its bothering me. Heres what happens.
2007 RK
If I am cruising along and I blip the throttle or accelerate quickly I get a chirp or similar noise coming from the front of the bike. I could be cruising along at 50 in 4th say. I have to pass someone so I hit it. I immediately get a chirp. If I am not moving and hit the throttle no noise.

Anyone have an idea?

Really? So it could be pinging as opposed to chirp or squeak? Intereting. I didnt think of that. I always use 93 octane

I was thinking last night that my exhaust could be loose at the cylinder. When I punch it air might be getting sucked in. I dont know.

"Chirp" sounds are normally related to a loose belt.

Loose bolt? Really. Any ideas where I should start looking?

My guess is a loose nut or something and when you hit it hard its tweeking it. Could be exhaust bolts or something?

Damn. I just had it adjusted. And the noise sounds like it is coming more from the front. I have the bike going in for a bar swap next week. I am going to have to have my wrench give it a ride and check it out. $$$$$$$

I'm not saying it's the belt for sure but a good place to start looking. The belt should feel tight when pushed at mid point. It should not move more than about 1/4-3/8" at 10lbs. pressure. Not sure what the exact spec is for an '07.
HD sells a gage for this.
Sometimes these bikes can make strange noises.Just have to start searching for loose hardware,etc-.

I hear ya. And I appreciate it. I opriginally thought it was keys in my windshield bag clanging because of the movement of the bike when I accelerate. Took the keys out and no good. I will keep looking.
