Need Help... Tranny or Clutch Issue?

I have a '95 Road King that has started to shift rough... I shift and hit a false neutral or it revs up and then pops into gear, and now I can't find neutral. If I am able to get neutral, the "N" light does not illuminate on the dash. Is this a tranny or clutch issue? Just would like some insight before I take it in for service.

Just a guess, but it sounds like a bent shifter fork in the tranny to me.

I've never had to deal with a tranny problem, so sorry about the stupidity, but worst case scenario, how much does it cost to replace? Or, is usually just a question of replacing worn/broken parts? Thanks for the help, I'm in the dark when it comes to transmissions.
