Man you guys spend some cash on windshields. The stock works great, why not use it?
Agree with ya !. Had a RKC and currently '09 Ultra with stock windsheilds as they both worked well for me. Tried out a demo '09 SG with 4" dark windshield which sucked real bad. Helmet and Sunglasses jerked my head and eyes got all watery. I'm not going to deal with that non-sense and stay stock except...
For the chrome front fork baffle, I'm going to see if 2 HD dealers by me have them in stock today...If they do, I'm buying one since $24.95 plus tax doesn't hurt to try it out and see what happens.
I just bought the vivid black version to match my fast vivid black SG and the manual says I need to tap out the bolt holes to remove the paint or the bolts won't fit. Did you guys tap out the holes, or did the bolts fit?

Wind buffing sucks,
Thorey
They all seem to have the chrome one. Strangly I had to order the black one. In fact, the parts guys at three different stores didn't even know the black ones existed until I walked them over to a Road Glide. Also, the black one doesn't come with bolts or washers, so make sure you order them as well if you want fast black. If you use the black bolts, they aren't really black, just that ugly black metal. But they are self tapping so you don't need a tap to clean the holes.
I'm amazed what I learned from buying a cheap simple little part.
Hey - I sped down to the dealer and picked up a chrome one for myself today. Installed it with no issue. I did have to tap one of the two holes. The untapped one was a little tight but I left it alone.
Been raining forever here and I don't think I'll get out for a few more.
Looks good - more chrome is always nice. As a side note my dealer would have had to order the black one as well.

Picked a chrome one up last night for $27. Installation was a piece of cake. Will have to wait for the weather to clear and dry up then I'll go out for a test ride and see if it's functionability works or not.
I had used the same windshield from '99 on for all my dressers and then when I went from an '01 EG to a '07 Ultra, I could not figure out why I had all this buffeting. I tried three different windshields, taking the lowers off and on, then I bought the "flare" which finally provided a little (a lot actually) relief.
I should have at least one of those black fork baffles in a box somewhere, I have changed more than one out for chrome over the years.

I chased the threads on my with a 1/4" NC bottom hole tap. Mostly just cleaned out the paint.
OK - tried this thing out today. Just as a reference I have the Klockwerks windsheild (original size) and I did notice a big reduction of air up in my chest and face. I put my hand down by the side of the tank and could feel the air streaming past along the sides of the tank. It kinda hits you in the legs.
I'd say I'm pleased with the results; might be one of the best '$$ to results' value for rider comfort out there!
