I bought a Spotlight LED flashlight for my bike. It fits in the cigarette port and has a rechargeable battery that charges any time the bike is on. Its really bright and has come in handy a few times.

This is a two month old thread which I have an On Topic question.
My cigar lighter is not working on my 2008 Road Glide. I wanted to draw power for my Garmin 765T GPS. Plugged in the GPS, and nothing. Tried the pop out lighter and it did not work either. Then tried the GPS in the truck with its cigar lighter and it powered up fine. So the problem is with the RG's lighter receptical, or something between it and the RG's battery.
I popped the fuse cover and looked at each fuse. They seem okay.
Can someone point me to which fuse might be blown?
If the fault is not the fuse, what would be the next likely item.
I solved the problem with a quick fix while I'm on the road. I went to a hardware store (Truvalue) and purchased a "heavy duty" cigar lighter receptical (female part). It has a long pair of +- wires and alligator clips.
I tried the clips with my battery and Garmin 765T GPS. Worked fine. So I cut off the clips and pressed on a pair of ring terminal ends to the bare wires. Connected the wires to the battery and ran the cords to the inner fairing and then to the left glove box. The female end just lies in the glove box. I plugged in the Garmin male end which has a fuse. Works fine.
Its just a temporary fix. I will wire it more "elegantly" when I get home from my tour. For now, it is doing what it is supposed to do - get me from here to there.
Oh man, these things rock! It's about 1.5" long but so bright it shines all the way to the fence in my back yard (~100 feet?). I was amazed at hom much light this thing puts out for such a small light!

the only problem will be the socket will get to loose to hold the lighter...it is a joke that they dont have a 12v power point on these bikes
Do you have expereince with that using these lights or is that a guess?
These do not have the side mounted spring contact that typically comes on a cigarette lighter power plug so I'm not seeing how it would widen the outlet.
