Default The Must Have Tool List??????????????

We have an 01 Ultra and an 03 Lowrider,,,,,,,,I find myself wrenching on them more and more now that the budget is getting tighter. And I hate paying shop rates anyway.

Seems I'm always looking for a different wrench,, or torx driver,,,,, or some other tool that I don't have already. So I thought I'd pose a question to all that do their own wrenching,,,

What would you include in a "Must Have Harley Tool List"????

Now I'm not just talking about a saddlebag kit here,,,,,,,, I mean in the shop toolbox as well.

Thanks to all in advance,,,,,Jay

The most important are a good inch pound torque wrench, a good foot pound torque wrench, and a good high foot pound torque wrench, a torx bit set, a fork cap socket wrench, some common size allen sockets, ball end allen wrenches and a kastar ratcheting 36mm wheel nut wrench. The rest are common wrenches and such. A lot of the required tools for a certain job can either be fabricated or borrowed as you may only do something once.

There you go. Amen on the service manual. Any fairly good tool set from Sears will cover most stuff except for the earlier mentioned items. I do love inch instead of metric but I do wish Harley would use less Torx fittings.

t27 torx bit for sure as it does not come in a lot of torx sets. Standard and metric allen heads, I use the socket type. Standard sockets, 10mm metric for the battery, socket extension for tranny plug...I just get what I need as I need them.

+100 to suggestions above. If you already have a service manual, look under APPENDIX A (TOOLS). to give you an idea about recurrent vs. one-time use only tools.

I found out I needed twelve point sockets when I was in the middle of changing the brake master cylinder. My six point set and open end wrenches wouldn't cut it on the banjo bolt and I had to run to Sears.
