I know all of you love your bike and the harley name, but I'm beginning to think that they deserve the reputation that some have gave them as being a p.o.s. So far I've got 2800 miles on my bike and 400 of them are miles going back to dealer for warranty work, I rode it last Wednesday home from getting the radio repaired and parked it in the garage and watched the rain for a week and finally got to ride it again today. About 40 miles into the ride my security light came on and my cruise stopped working, I go to the store only to come out and the darn thing won't start. I call the dealer and he walks me through starting it, (the bike now has to be in neutral to start and cruise still won't work.) One of the lights on the tour pak doesn't come on and the seat looks like it has aged 10 years in the two months I've owned the bike. I know it is blasphemy to say this but my honda had over 30k on it and never saw the shop since the day I bought it. Are all Harley's this high maintenance or did I just get a lemon? I guess I'll make another appt. with the dealer... man this is getting old.
I have owned several Harleys for the last thirty years plus and never had those, or any other significant problems. Admittedly, I only had one with cruise and one (my current FLHRS) with the security system.
If I thought my bike was a POS I would get rid of it and that is my advice to you. Go back to Honda.
You know, you can even get a lemon in a Porsche or a Mercedes. Harley is not immune. They are most certainly not POS either! I have had many jap bikes over the years and wouldn't trade the best of them for either of my Harleys. I'm sorry you are having issues, if they continue take advantage of your state's lemon laws.
You certainly have had some bad luck with your new bike, I had some with my '08 Super Glide Custom too, but everything was taken care of immediately by the dealer. Once the "bugs" were worked out it was great. No issues to date with my '08 Ultra. I wouldn't panic yet, it'll come together and be just fine.
your particular bike, sadly, may be a POS. as cbears pointed out, lemons happen even to the best marque. Not too late to sell it and go back to the VTX 1300 you had and be happy again
That reminds me of a little skit that I recently watched about pos bikes. You guys might like this. It does have some profanity in it but not sexual or anything.
