Jack clearance

All my bikes are lowered and my Sears red jack wouldn't fit under any of them anymore so I went and bought a Sears yellow jack, man what mistake, that is the flimsiest piece of crap I have ever used (I used it once and took it back) what I did to cure the problem was to make a simple wood platform with a removable trap door, it's 3 pieces of 3/4 plywood screwed together.
It works very well and completely stable as you can ride onto it put down the stand get off, pull out the trap door and roll the jack in and you can just leave it on the floor as you can drive your car right over it, I only pick it up lay it against the wall in the snowy season.

I keep hearing everyone say that this jack is crap and this jack is the bomb. I have noticed in my short time here on this earth that all of the jacks that I have owned loaned or borrowed was less stable with the jack in the semi raised position through the halfway position and it then became increasing more stable when the jack was lifting towards maximum capaicity. Thats when everyone and their sidekick will get on their motorcycle and you watch them sit on it or push it around. I would like to see someone jack their expensive jack just until the bike gets 1 to 2 inches off the ground get on it and go from the front of the bike seat to the rear. Ill be watching u-tube for this demonstration. Any takers of the jack manufacturers out there. Let me know,

ever thought about setting the jiffy stand on a piece of 2x6 to level out the lower frame rails first? just an easier way to stay in control of the bike rather than trying to slide the jack in under an unsupported bike. that way it raises the frame rail on the jiffy stand side, and will be much easier to control than trying to hold the bike up and balancing it while trying to slide the jack under both frame rails for correct match up. good luck. i also have the yellow aluminum craftsman professional jack and am very happy with it. thought about the harbor freight one, but decided i wanted better quality.
