There is some serious Crazy Talk goin' on in this thread...

Center of Gravity, lights, etc. If you don't spin a wrench and have no first hand experience with modifying bikes and riding modified bikes just stop and give the poor guy a break.

Lowering just the rear of your glide 1" or 1.5" with either lowering blocks or shorter shocks is done all the time and the factory also does it. The ride is a little worse and parts scrape a little easier in the turns, but that's it. Any change to the rake and trail measurements are so small, they will not be noticable or dangerous and will not effect your center of gravity, adjustment of your lights, etc...

If your a short guyor you are going for the "slammed" look, then lowering the front the same amount as you lower the rear will work as well.

I agree with this guy with everything except one tiny little thing. You will need to adjust your headlight with a 1 to 1.5" drop in the rear. Done it and have had to adjust. Other than that he is dead on! [8D]

Just my 2 cents worth. the center of gravity does not change by raising or lowering front or rear. It only changes with physical movement of weight forward or aft of the current COG. The rear end does not gain weight because it is lower, the laterial CG will remain the same. What will change is the CG will be closer to the ground, which will give much better handling at slow speed and in turns. If the COG changed with raising the nose or lowering the rear, then the CG of airplanes would change with takeoff and clilmb. They do not. Just my 2 cents worth.
First youstateCG don't change, then youstate it does change???I agree with when you state it does change by raising or lowering front or rear. Havingraced cars formany cars on roadcourses, this isa waywe controlled over or understeer by shifting theCG forward or backward, stock cars call it"wedge" and more or less "loose". Unless you're a motorcyclecanyon carver,I'm not sure it matters because just packing your bags different or carrying a passengerhas a larger affect.

I loweredour UCback only 1/2" with lowering blocks, it's noticeable and my pipes hit drives when exiting that they did notdo before, can't imagine going 1 1/2" lower.

Change both the from springs and the rear shocks to 12" the originals are 13". I would use the progressive 440 shocks I have found them to be much better than the stock harley lowering shocks.
