Default Knock Werks 10.5" windshield…major disappointment

Been running the 6.5" Knock Werks windshield for a while. Bike handles better and the I like the look. It's just to short for me. I needed something taller for road trips. Received the new 10.5" windshield Friday. It looked better installed that I had expected. Or maybe I just though so after seeing pictures. I'm 6' 4" and I was looking through the windshield. Never road it, just took it off. I need to look over not through. Saturday got to thinking I need to try it out. Put it back on and tried it. The reflection from the gas cap is bad. The whole thing shakes setting still, but stops as soon as you hit the gas. Got about 1/2 miles up the road and couldn't take it any longer. Came back home and put in back in the box. Guess the only good thing about it is now when someone ask me what's the most useless thing I every bought for a bike, I know the answer.

I was interested to read your results. I've been waiting for them to provide this, in fact they called me when it was available. I just wanted to see if it would provide more protection, and still look good. Appreciate your comments. Would really like to hear from more, but you might have just saved me some $$, and for that, I thank YOU! If you're 6'4", and have to look "through the 10 1/2", maybe I could get by with the 6 1/2". Hmmm

Why not look at the Cee Bailey's SSC windshield. It looks good and works pretty well also and is less $$$$. Lots of sizes and tints to choose from.

Default real height

Forgot to add, I measured the windshield. It's 12.5" sticking out of the bike, but it leans back toward the rider. If you measure straight up the way a stock windshield goes, it's 10.5". It the windshield was 10.5" making it about 8.5" straight up, I do believe I'd be happy. Hate to buy another until I've seen it in person. I've got $300 in ones I can't use.

I sure wish I could find a dealer that carries the different heights in stock. Try as I might, I don't ever seem to be able to come up with the right height for me and its costing me a fortune.

Perfect timing for this post! Great feedback on your purchase and sorry it didn't work out for you but you just saved me from purchasing my 4th windshield.

Good luck. I had a KW 6.5 on my RG. I'm still waiting to buy a new shield for the same reason, '' if it don't fit YOU, it's wasted cash.'' I've heard/read that the Cee Bailey's is the way to go, but I'm still checking out any forum reviews in regards to windshields. I almost hate this UGLY stock shield

Just purchased the new 10.5" windshield from Klock Werks at Laughlin River Run. Installed it and rode home to Sacramento, CA. I am also disappointed! I am 6'4" and could not see over it, had to look through it the whole trip home. I wish it was about 1.5 - 2" shorter. Unless you're 6'8" or taller don't waste your money. I am trying to figure out if there is some way to trim it down. If anyone has ideas, please post.

Read another of my posts. A friend got 50 miles & wanted to turn around to go back. Toughed it out than when his old windshield arrived via mail he packed it up and sent it back for refund. A shame

You can trim any windshield down if you're careful and fairly brave. The trouble with these flared shields is that cutting them down also negates a lot of the benefit of the flare. If I were to trim one, I would carefully mark it and then use a fine hacksaw blade, just the blade on it's own, and then finish the resulting edge with a fine file.
