Default Bye-bye Night Glide, hello CVO Ultra, new with pics

Was in to Pierce's HD Saturday to complain that the CB radio that they "Fixed" still wasn't transmitting. So, I was pissed because the night before I had gone to a meeting with the group of my old firefighter buddys. We are going to the Dragon and then ride the Blue Ridge PKWY from Tenn to Pa. 2 Wings, 3 Ultra Classics and me. We go for a ride and we all have or CBs on and no one can hear me. So, at Pierce I am talking with my salesman Paul and I hear a guy walk in and asks about my Night Glide and if it was for sale. Paul chuckles and I say to Paul, "For the right price it is" So, he offers a pretty fair price for my bike, and then Paul tosses in that he can work the sale to be a trade in for me so I will pay less taxes on the new bike I purchase. Even better! So I start really looking at this 2009 Ultra CVO in the silver and blue colors. It has everything, ABS, 6 gallon tank, the new frame, 1800cc engine, custom paint, heated grips and seat, power trunk and saddlebag locks, XM and navigation, plus everything is chromed from the wheels to the handlebar buttons. AND a WORKING CB RADIO!!
So, at Pierce's again this morning to test ride a 2009 Ultra to feel the new frame and I liked it alot. The radio is REAL close now, but I will get used to that , shook hands on it before noon. It will take them a few days to get the parts to fit the bike to me. Shorter shocks, pullback bars and footpeg extensions. I should have it before this weekend.

Do the wires on the pullback bars run inside like the stock bars ?

Holy S#!t, you just figured out the Harley secret. Build a bike that might have problems, get a guy to dump $10,000 (modest) into upgrades to make it really sharp, like yours, don't fix the problems he has so he has to come back often, hope someone else spots the custom bike and wants to buy it, sell a new bike (CVO Ultra for example) and the circle starts again! Don't tell the MoCo we figured this out, they may have us eliminated!

Congrats on the new bike!

Congrats and remember to take it easy on the Dragon...the Ultra does not allow low lean angles.

Damn, Spike. You had the best looking RG I've seen, and you just did the work last year. You didn't even have time to put the Carbon Fiber wheels on there.

This is disconcerting as I just decided to keep my bike and throw a little money at it (paint and whatnot) versus buying a new one. To think I'm gonna do that and then just want to sell it in a year anyway......

Wow after all that work. I would have never seen this coming. Congrats on the CVO Spike. I'm sure you'll love it. Great color choice too.

Thanks, it was a tough decision and especially in this economy. But the deal was too good to pass up. Yep, I loved my RG, loved each bike I owned for one reason or another. But it's always fun to start on something new.
1 thing on this bike though, I was made to promise that there will be no major mods done to this bike for 2 years. It already has the custom paint and chrome wheels so I will be good for this winter
