I have my bike down to the frame/engine, it would be no big deal to change out the harness, its totally a plug & play deal. Any half competent mechanic should be able to change a harness out. The connectors can't go but one place. I can't imagine how frustrated I would be if I was paying $20K + for a new bike and it being in the shop for weeks. Good luck, Its damn hard to get a new bike /car whatever out of manufactures, even in states with lemon laws its a long drawn out process.

Yeah, cars have had it forever, but HD don't build cars, and when they attempt this kinda crap they go cheap and toss their mistakes on their customers as usual.

I will never buy another HD. The MOCO cannot stand up and be honest about thier mistakes. American men do that, but HD doesn't.
I hope you keep your promise and never buy another Harley. H-D doesn't need
customers that live in the past and constantly bitch about new technology.
Sounds like you are ready for a Vespa!

The throttle cable on my old Subaru melted and the throttle stuck in the open position. I nearly crashed. I will never buy any vehicle with a throttle cable.

It may be hard but it's not impossible. One prerequisite that's usually in place is that the owner give the manufacturer a "reasonable" (whatever that turns out to be?) chance to correct the problem. Somehow, I don't think two weeks meets that requirement yet so as someone else said, "be patient," and document every step along the way. They'll either fix it or they'll finally cross that line that will give you a good case for a new bike under the law.

Best of luck with this!

Default No Problems here 10K plus miles

Ponder sorry to hear you having problems, and hope it gets straightened out for you soon.

I have had NO ISSUES with TBW as my post states with over 10K miles and have changed grips. Doesnt mean I wont at some point in the future but doesnt mean I will either.

I think some folks just live gripe (in reference to the poster who will Never own another Harley). While I was stationed in Alaska I met a guy at a Seminar in the Air Force that griped about being stationed in Hawaii. Never stopped bitchin the whole time we were there. Some folks just aint happy unless they can be like that.

I'll blame the 13" bars but you are more than entitled to blame your bike because it is never the owner/mechanic's (non-HD mech) fault.

My 08 SG has an almost smooth as silk throttle control; my 07 SB is not so smooth. Both bikes are great.

So why do I blame the bars? Simple math: the OEM wiring might not have enough slack for the 13" bars so something has to be stretched somewhere. Simple science alludes to the fact that the bars will not bend to accommodate. This then leaves the wiring to be at fault.

FYI: a lot of folks use extensions for their wiring when swapping to apes. Surely you did as well.

Keep us posted...

This is like the 4th time in the shop and they can't figure it out theyv'e changed the twist grip sensor like 4 times the induction module and even the ecm.

I will be riding the bike and all of a sudden i will loose the throttle nothing no response and the bike will go into limp mode and shoot the error codes in the speedo.

Harley will spends thousands trying to figure this out rather then give me a new scoot.

I did change the bars out but it should'nt be doing this.

Any electrical gurus on here

how long does it take to swap a wiring harness out??

TBW No issues here, nor would I go back to the cable set up. The cruise control on these things a just awesome. Some old timers just don't know when something is an improvement. Nor would I go back bike with out ABS.

Relative to the tech's competence I think some of you ought to lighten up on some these dealers/techs. How in the he!! is someone on this board going to now if a tech is up to the task when we have never met the person you are with reference. How well do you actually know your bike and workings. I am assuming pretty well since you have change out your bars. Did you have these issues before you change your bars out. I personally put a lot of trust in the techs that service my bikes. The dealer is top notch and have always been very responsive. Also alot of has to do with your demeaner and the way you present your problem. Treat the Tech/supervisor/dealer like crap your get crap.

Ponder
had the same thing happen 3 times with my 09 ultra, went back to the dealer flipping out and they had it for two days, said it was two pins got pinched and was throwing off the voitage so it was sending a signal to the computer which sent it into linb mode.
I'm leaving for the Dragon on Saturday, and I was worried about some of the older bike making the trip, just hope I make it with out braking down
