i just bought a 09 street glide last september and this is my first bike with a fairing. Whats the best way to get bugs off? Usually i just use Meguiars quick detailer but it seems every time i ride its covered in bugs. If i wash the bugs off everytime seems like the paint would evevtually wear off. I usually wax it every time i clean it. What does some of your guys fairing paint look like after 4 or 5 years?
I lay a clean wet bath towel on mine, let set for 10 minutes or so, if fresh bugs. Very lightly, wipe off bugs with towel and with a wet microfiber cloth. Then use a detailer and clean microfiber. Always wipe lightly. Bug sprays like HD's work too.
+1 for using a wet cloth to lay on them. Works well to get them off of there. Alos, helps to keep a good coat of wax on there too, clean and wax often.

Ditto, mine gets cleaned about 5 times a week. 2yrs old still looks new. I use wax and detailer often.
warm wet towel works wonders on the bugs, and keeps them from scratching as you remove them
I know this has been covered before, but I use Pledge (store brand) and the bugs that are smashed on seem to slide off without much effort. I would remind you that I live in NJ where the bugs are not as large as some of the State Birds you smack your way through in the other parts of the Country. It works for me, better than the quick detail wax.
This past weekend I sprayed Pledge with Lemon on some good size bugs and let is sit for a minute and they came right off. This is something you can bring with you and use if you are out of town.
I have found the Harley Bug remover to be the best. Spray it on and it just melts them away the give it a wipe with a soft towel. Then I use
Meguires cleaner / wax. It brings the shine back out and removes the little swirl mark scratches. Had a 96' Classic, Black and the paint still look showroom new when I traded off this past winter. The paint won't wear off, in fact your not touching the paint when cleaning, the paint is covered in about 3 coats of clear
