Well i installed a CB so that is another story...J&M CB and i have my radio, GPS, hooked up on my headsets...the radio sounds beautiful....just that little bit of volume enhances the fairing speakers like surround sound.
Sounds crazy but use ear plugs and at the speeds listed, 60, 65, 70, you can still hear the radio very well, or at least I can. And about half the time I am riding with a full-face helmet.
Yep, I wear 30dB plugs, but now I'm wondering if I could find some that are not as good. I just need it to keep the wind turbulence out of my ears. May be able to improve what I can hear even more.
I had been riding with a full face and havent had problems hearing the tunes onthe highway. I just switched to a 3/4 helmet and tried riding with ear plugs and you can actually hear the radio better with them but you will have to turn the volume up louder. Earplugs reduce the volume but also eliminate alot of the unwanted sounds too.
I find that when I use earplugs, I have no problems hearing the radio at freeway speeds. The earplugs generally moderate the wind noise and allowing the music to come through. I usually use the disposable kind that can be bought in bulk at the local hardware store. Works fine, lasts long time.
09 SG w/ 8" Clearview w/ Recurve ---- Stereo sounds very good and I have been at 90 mph or so and I can still hear it well (of course lower speeds are more desireable).
I can hear the tunes until about 80mph (so can my wife in back). I do have an aftermarket head unit though (Sony deck) and Hog Tunes speakers in the fairing. 4-5" windshield also.

I have only had my bike 3 weeks and only have put on approximately 1500 miles. In that time I noticed the CD player works extremely well, I can hear, Johnny Cash and my AC-DC CDs at any speed. I have travelled well over 80 mph with a D&D FatCat installed the CD was Flawless.
The AM/FM radio on the other hand was difficult to hear past 50 mph. Seems the CD plays louder for some reason,.
