The people are pissed. Had a meeting today to try and get the mayor and city council out. Don't think they'll be around after Nov elections. If you want a laugh check out thesunnews.com

Just remember, as an individual biker, you can't control what another biker does (well maybe unless you're a leader in a MC or something), so be careful where you cast stones, to those talking about BBW.

Has every harley rider been a pillar of the community? Not so much lately, but I remember growing up hearing a lot stories that were credible at the time, about rallies or clubs coming through my area where they walked out on tabs, trashed bars, in one instance they allegedly raped the local LEO w/ his own billy club. A lot of people were turned off to harley riders as a result.

I've said it before, I've met a lot of cool people from all over the country that came down for BBW before, that also went out of their way to set the right example, and tip even when the service sucked etc. I'm not saying that they didn't have some problems w/ BBW, but I agree w/ another poster who said deal w/ those problems, but I'll take it a step further. Not only would I say don't lump the harley weeks in with it, which could draw scrutiny if someone feels favoritism is being shown, but don't even paint w/ a broad enough brush to affect any of the rallies.

In other words, if you're drawing extra revenue from a tourism event like this, take some of the money to make the event even better, and provide more services to the people at the event, while controlling the criminals and dealing w/ them appropriately. If they were smart, they could do more to help vendors, hotels, and other venues spread out when and where things happen, deal w/ crowds and traffic better, and let it be known that if you cross the line you're in trouble, but that people that come to have good, relatively clean fun, will be provided a safe envrionment to do so.

I've heard other people comment that some of the trouble from BBW comes from people there not even on bikes, and a lot of juvenilles, I think there may be some truth to that, having been there myself.

I think it's reasonable to enact a curfew for minors, stiffer penalties for ditching on local businesses, and stuff like that, but I think if they worked with promoters and planned it well, they could make these events better, for both their community, residents, business owners, and patrons. It's sad they don't see it that way. The worst part is, in my opinion, the way they went about it, it not only discriminates against any biker for bike week(s), but it also discriminates against all bikers at any time. By enacting these laws, they've said we don't want any bikers ever, based on their standards for noise, and superceeding state law w/ helmet and eye protection, etc.

It's good to see a few other people talking about the golf, at least I'm not the only biker that golfs too, I've spent my share of money down there in the past on personal, family, and golf vacations, but now don't want to go. Even if people don't golf, and while I'm sure some bikers only went there for bike week, a lot of people in the region I bet spend time/money there year round that also ride, and MB has spit in our face too. I have to think they'll lose revenue year round, not just during bike weeks.

OK, I can't stand it anymore, never been to one of these (only been on a bike less than a year)...what is the difference between the two events at MB that folks are talking about here?!?!

First week, second week...what's it about???

Sorry for being such a dumba$$!

http://www.thesunnews.com/news/local/story/908516.html

I read through again and felt I needed to add the following. Sort of a rant but hey...if you have the time, read on.

Out of all the rallies, bikefest etc that I have attended over the years, the ones with the most problems were in my opinion due to the lack of proper enforcement. Dumb aszis doing wheelies, burn outs, pissing in the roads, throwing up on bikes, walking out on tabs, excesive drunkardness, starting fights for no reason and other assorted behaviors that attract attention need LEO attention.

Having loud pipes and conducting yourself in a respectable manner, enjoying an alcohol beverage while walking on sidewalks or identified areas should be the norm.

I feel that the leaders of MB could learn alot from Mardi Gras. Sure it is illegal to walk the streets with open containers in most places however an exception is made for this event and most of the people are having a great time!

Just watch "COPS MardiGras". The only people getting arrested are the morons acting like idiots, excessive drunkards or the criminal element.

Proper enforcement! Dont write citations because I have loud pipes, no helmet or am parked with several other bikes concidered to be loitering....damn!! Who am I really hurting??? Im not going to get hurt or hurt anyone alse doing this!!! The wheelies, drunkards and criminals have a much higher % of causing personal injury and property damage!!!

Arrest the above mentioned offenders. It is sad that the ones that really pay the price are the business owners and now the MB politicans have the ***** to say that the depressed business was due to the economy??BS
Its a tourist town!! They need the $$$$$!! And the politions were the ones that provided advertisement related to stricter event guidelines in the first place. Get rid of them.

And by the way...gee sorry for the locals that bitzc about the noise. Im sure this event was here long before you were or maybe you used to attend one of these??

Well I guess now it's time to whine about the potential tax hikes to make up for the shortcomming in revenues because of the recent laws!
Time to eat your shorts MB. It just sucks that it it at the expense of the hard working tax paying business owners that had faith and invested in your town.
Shame on you city council morons!!! You Bozos just peed into your own Cheerio bowl!

This also applies to the ABB rally as well. I dont care if you are white, black yellow blue or green...Act like a decent human being and troubles will not come your way at any event from LEOS. Act like an idiot...then you deserve it. If more arrest are made during one week over another so be it!
It will prove where the stupidity prevails. However if one week is open for business...the next one needs to be as well regardless of the dark cloud of performances past.... use this compiled information as a comparison and contrast for when the ultimate card is thrown about again!!
Thanks for reading as this is just my opinion and how I feel.
PS.I hope the link worked

the first week is predominately harleys and the second week is the 'sport bike' crowd, or otherwise known as 'black bike week'....

the first rally is generally pretty well behaved, while the second rally is more out of control. however, with political correctness run amuck, you can't do anything to one without doing it to the other otherwise the naacp will haul your *** into court.

I just checked out some sites on this subject, so the second week is REALLY black biker's week...while the first week, for lack of a better description, is white biker's week. I realize that you can ride any bike regardless of your skin color, but that IS how these sites are promoting these events!

I have nothing against anyone of any racial decent, but it does grind on me that one can publish a magazine named "Ebony" and get away with it, but try to publish one named "Ivory" and you'll be on every major media outlook getting shunned and ridiculed.

It seems like there is a real double standard in this country and those two-way streets that were once plentiful are now one-way's, or better yet, "no outlets".

Simply amazing.

Thanks for the clarification though.

That news just makes me all warm and fuzzy...MB can kiss my happy *** now and in the future...they've seen the last of me, my bike and my $$...
