Default D407 new tread depth???

Did a search, no luck. Can anyone tell me the tread depth of a new D407 rear tire off an 09 touring bike? Trying to calculate my tread life. For those interested, I have more than 4/32" remaining after 10500 miles, mostly highway miles.

Should have measured this at the beginning

Here's the Dunlop page for those tires but I be darned if I can figure out what unit of measurement they use on the chart. If you figure it out, clue me in...

I saw that before I posted. I think Dunlop left out the measurements for the tread depth column. That's why I was hoping someone could gauge their new tires...

Can't tell you about the 407's, but I measure the tread on my 402's every time I get new ones, especially the rear since it only lasts around 6000 miles. I have found that a new rear tire will vary from 8/32 to 10/32 depth. Now when I get a new one, I tell them to measure and give me the one with the most tread.

Checked a new 407 tire and got approximately 8/32.

If you are at 10,000 plus on the rear, you are nearing the end of the useful life of the tire. As always you may be fine for local miles for maybe another 1k but if longer distance travel is in your future you may want to change it. I saw on another thread where a poster stated he bought another stock wheel to mount a new tire on for longer distance but continued to squeeze miles out of the older tire. This is not something I would ever consider but I guess it works for him.

Thanks for the info guys...We'll see how far it goes. I plan on changing at 2/32 as the manual says to change before 1/32 (wear marks show at 1/32). I should get at least 15,000 at this rate.

yep, I've got 4/32's on my D408 front and 4/32's on my D407 rear at 9100 miles, pretty decent mileage I think, good for another 5k.

I've got 18,700 on mt D407 rear and it's real close to the wear bar but not quite there yet. (I'm guessing 3/32 left) Excellent wear in my opinion!!

I got around 15K out of the rear D407. It still had tread left, but it was cupping around the outer edge. When you get around to changing the tire, you will be amazed at how much better the bike rides.
