I lowered my 09 1 inch using the road 6 customs lowering kit. To me it rides much better. Me and the wife's combined weight is approx. 300 lbs. No issues bottoming out with 30 psi in the stock shocks.
I have never tried the aftermarket shocks so I don't know how they compare, but you are probably looking at over $250. My choice was based on cost (approx. $50) and I am pleased with the results. By the way I ran the same brackets on my 05 at the 2 inch setting 2 years with no issues.
I used lowering blocks and run them in the first hole, or about a 1" drop. I also shaved my stock seat so it's more narrow at the front. Works fine for me.
nice 8 year old thread I actually removed a lowering kit.....have no idea where /who made it but it put my replacement shocks into a no fit scenario,,,,,my air rides were beat and leaking so not much choice ......off they went and my ride height increased.......I gotta say my ride improved I was aiming for every manhole cover there was when done, lol.
I lowered my 15 FLHXS with Progressive monotubes in the front 2", because I have a 21" wheel in the front. I just swapped out the HD premium shocks with some Progressive 944 ULs. It really dropped my bike and now I can flat foot it. I also have an HD badlander seat too, if that makes a difference to you.
mebbe over thinking the over sized front wheels.....to each there own; but moho is the rake puts a lot of stress on the triplle tree instead of the front shocks where it belongs.
