Saw a guy PUSHING his Sportster along the shoulder of an Interstate Highway last summer, 90 degrees out and he's sweating bullets. I stopped to ask what the deal was and he stated that he was out of gas and was pushing it to the nearest station. (about 3 miles) No doubt, it WAS a bad neighborhood (East St. Louis IL) but Geez!! I told him to sit tight and that I'd be right back. I had a friend that lived a couple miles away, so I rode to his house, got a gas can, went and squirted a couple of gallons of premium into it and took it to the guy. Need less to say, he was a very happy camper. He flipped me a 10 spot, told me to keep the change, fired up his Sporty and with a grin on his face, rode off into the sunset. He felt good, I felt good, and everybody lived happily ever after. By the way, I told him to keep his money, but I made him promise to pass it forward the next time he say a fellow rider sitting on the side of the road. Got a funny look, but made my point.
I always at least slow down to see if they need help. I've even turned around and gone back. It's bad enough being on the side of the road in a car, but a bike seems that much worse.
Helped a Brit that ran out of gas last year, helped a guy tie down his Wing on the trailer a few weeks ago and even hung out with a guy with a sporty waiting for his ride & trailer. It takes a few minutes out of your ride to at least find out whats happening.
Never understood the mentality of at least not asking!
I was driving down the road and saw this guy pushing a bike on the other side of the divider of the highway, I had my ramp and tie downs in the truck and decided to hit the next exit and go give him a hand, turns out he just got the bike out of the stealer ship after a motor rebuild and it tossed the bottom end out for the most part, We loaded it up and i took him back to the stealer ship and dropped him off and refused his money and told I might need help someday and to pay this forward to the next rider you see needing help.

I make it a point to stop or at least communicate in some form; seems to be the exception rather than the rule these days. But I'm sure most of them "waved"........

Sad to hear of Your experience. Wish I would have passed by so I could have offered some help. Ride Safe.
I don't see it very often, but when I do I ALWAYS stop.... Being a girl, I get kinda freaked to stop for vehicles (but I still have) but bikes, nope, Always stop... and did again yesterday. He was fine, but I had to make sure...
It was one of the last days of my riding season last year and I was not gonna fuel up my bike cause I was having my tins repainted, so I ran out of fuel about 1 1/2 k from my house n was pushing... I had sooooo many people stop.. Even a car load of young boys, ran out with a fuel can for me... it was awesome...

Oh, was that you on the side of the road with your engine torn down? I thought you were just cleaning it. Sorry, I'll stop next time. I was late for my hair appointment.
