That is really sad....... I would have stopped to help you. My wife and I have flipped back on an expressway to help a fellow biker. I guess a lot of it is how you were brought up, just a plain shame....... TIm
Sorry to hear about your being left. I have had the same experience. I stupidly ran out of gas on my Sporty years ago. As I was pushing the bike to the nearest station, the entire local HOG group rode by. The one lone rider in the back slowed, then realized no one else was and sped on. Saw them all, when I finally got to the dealer open house, I and they were headed to. Needless to say, I have never joined the local.
It is todays society... I can remember when I was younger you didn't have to be concerned about being robbed when you stop to help someone...This was going on in NY when I was stationed there..I will still stop to help but some people are afraid to now days.
As I was reading through all these posts, I was really looking for this one. Times are getting bad but I believe most people are good. As a police officer, I have seen it few time but heard about it a lot. I have made a few scenes where rider "a" helps rider "b" just to get his or her bike taken. Some times it's by a secondary rider and sometimes its by a secondary vehicle (working with rider "b") that pulls up to offer help too. I try to stop as much as I can but I always carry a gun too. I ride a lot of MX and keep my ramps in my truck's tool box. I have used them to put a few bikes in the back of my truck. Mostly street bike though...ever try to push a Harley up a single ramp into a 4X4 F250? Not fun.
As riders we all want to help a fellow rider but don't focus on being the hero focus on the other rider. If things dont look right once you stop, get outta there. Be safe guys.
If ya broke down, put ya helmet top up on ground in front of scoot, usually sign your having trouble and not just stopped
Ezlife, agree. We need something that says, "Broke down and can't get help right now." With everyone having a cell phone we need a way of telling our brothers that we need help. Red bandana? Ain't got one. Helmet? Every time I ride...
Thats what I was thinking. How does that work? For the money I spent on this bike I could have bought several mail order brides. But I'm still waiting for the time where I get off the bike and some hot babe wants to bang me.
