I am sure things will be different in the US to Europe, but I went on a long run so I decided to call HOG just to make sure I understood the procedures and was clear as to what service I could expect, especially important as I was spending a lot of time in countries where I cannot speak the local lingo...
Biggest surprise / disappointment for me was the fact that the HOG support number published is NOT the breakdown recovery number. You have to call the support number to get the rcovery number. Problem is...support number is NOT 24/7 so I was glad I made that initial call.
Also, I did run in to a problem where the security system alarm seemed to go in to a loop. Set itself off, then stopped - but before I could do anything it would set itself off again. I was worried about running the battery down after this had happened 7 or 8 times (and also much to the annoyance of those in the vicinity) so I called the support line. All they could offer was to pick the bike up and have it dropped off at a local dealer. This was on Easter Sunday so fat help that would have been. I was just looking for someone with technical knowledge who may have known a trick to stop it, but it is PURELY a call centre
Thanks for all the info. Even thought my membership expires in Aug. I guess I will call and pat the $30 extra for the upgrade. The card I have has a breakdown number on the back,so is that not the right number that I need?
Tried to use it once near New Orleans about 7 PM at night. Operator told me there was nothing she could do because the closest dealer was closed. Never renewed my membership and never will.
I think HOG is the most useless membership I've ever had. WOW, 4 magazines and a badge to sew on my vest all for one annual fee. I called them twice for help and was denied for various reasons. I won't get into why, but I wouldn't waste my money on their useless club ever again.
Fast FLHX, I was told by the Europe HOG service that they would not honor my US roadside coverage. Since I'm living here for work for a couple of years, I changed my HOG affiliation to the local chapter and signed up for European HOG roadside assistance.
