Dyno tune STD - SAE
I just got my bike back from the dyno shop and i was comparing my last two runs and noticed they were STD 5th gear and this last one was SAE 5th gear. My question is my last run showed 80 tq and 70 hp SAE and the tune with the stock muffs was 82 tq and 72 hp STD. I think this works out about the same but i can't find any conversion charts to verify this. Can anyone tell me if me what my last test would be in STD. It runs really hard now with the new SE touring muffs so i am very happy with the mufflers and the sound .
SAE and STD are basically units of measure. STD is on average about 2 -3 % higher than SAE, so some tuners like using STD because it makes thier shops look better. 5th gear pulls is another way they do that. 5th and even 6th gear often have higher results. The standard in the U.S. has been 4th gear pulls in SAE. But I am seeing more and more printouts in STD. The main thing people need to worry about as far as bar stool bragging rights go, compare apples to apples. I would say your numbers in SAE and 4th gear would be closer to 68 HP and 78 tq.
Ask the shop for the actual run data file and you use the Dynojet Winpep viewer software available from dynojet.com and you can graph the file however you would like.

Thanks HarleyTuner. I took it out for a ride yesterday with my wife and no matter what the numbers are its how it feels to me that counts and it feels very good now. It pulls 6th gear at 60 up hills. Its very smooth and for some reason it feels faster than my last Harley that had higher numbers on the dyno but did not feel very fast.
