I'm pretty impressed with the stock 09 pipes. They aren't really loud crusing but when you get on it they wake up. I've had all the other makes before and still have a hard time changing these stock ones.
the best sounding HD i ever heard was my old '02 FLHRSEI it sounded perfect to me. it sounded like the '60's FLH with the buddy seat a friend of my dad's took me for a ride on when i was a kid. pure Harley.
for a stock bike my '09 FLHTC is louder than i expected not so much at idle but when you crack the throttle i'm surprised it meets the noise standards. my friend's wife has a stock '03 RK that is much quieter than my bike.
stay stock stay happy.
Running SE slip ons, on 2004 FLHRI, had them on for about two weeks, going to go back to stock this weekend. Too loud for longer rides. My son thinks i'm nuts.
Just installed modified stockers from Ted Kepple. Very happy with the sound. Low, deep, quite a bit louder than stock, but still reasonable when cruising. On the freeway, the wind still drowns out the pipes by a fair margin unless you crack open the throttle.
I like the stock slash-up look on the RKC, and it's nice having an EPA stamp (even if mostly meaningless).

I agree. With all of the rest of my bikes I changed it the day I got it but I thought I would wait on this one. When I was out yesterday I really got on it and it is almost as loud as my rineharts were at WOT. I'm happy with them so far.
