I have the McEwan gauge also, I routed mine to the right frame rail on the inside, up towards the battery box and up under the tank and into the inner fairing, fairly simple install. Also, the McEwan you do not need any adapter or anything, looks nice.

The HD gauge goes to 350, I believe the McEwan goes to 300. Am I correct?

WIthout an oil cooler on my bike I pegged that gauge at 300 a couple times in traffic. That's when I installed an oil cooler and a HD gauge.

Just my 2 cents.

Dayum, haven't you learned by now that you are supposed to avoid all traffic and especially sitting in it? Geez...

If my gauge ever hit 300 degrees, I think I would have a stroke! Highest I have ever seen is 260 sitting in traffic and I was upset then!

To make sure, the next time you change oil pull the plug out that you were going to put the sending unit in and see how much oil comes out. Then decide if you want to change the location

All kits appear to for 99 and newer. looking at the oil pan on my 98 flhtc, it appears to not have the extra hole for the sender. is this the reason for no kits for 98 and older? would like to make this mod. any suggestions?

Your right the McEwan gauge only goes up to 300 degrees, but I have an oil cooler already so I shouldn't come anywhere near that temp! And if I do, I guess it's time to pull over and let 'er cool down! I read dino oil breaks down at 250 degrees and synthetic at 300? I run synthetic.

I assume the inner plug works fine for all of you? Thanks.
well..I can say for a fact that when I pulled the plug, oil drained out
