I bought a set of lowers so I had to get rid of the engine guard fog lights on my street glide so I bought the HD LED head lamp. IMHO it provides excellent lighting. I have no complaints and wouldn't go back. On 2nd thought it it a bit pricey but I am glad I did it. Mine fit without any modifications.

I can't agree with Pete K. My experience with the HD LED lights is that they make a substantial improvement in down road visability. It's just like in the HD demo video. I'm glad I have them.

Default Truck lite led

well I installed the Truck lite LED head light on my "05 ultra and love it. the only thing i was bothered by was the color of the passing lamps did not match and after trying different bulbs for the passing lamps and then running into power problems(different and but important problem) i also went to the LED passing lamps also by truck lite and love the light output. the cost is half compared to HD and side by side with a friends bike running the HD system other people say the truck lite stands out more. driving the dark roads at nite i feel more safer and also during the day the light brings attention to all. i also like how the power draw on the electrical system is much less.

so there will always be conflicks, they may be ugly but they work.

I have both I like the HD headlight but the Kury is better because it floods the light more which is better for twisty mountain deer/Elk infested roads.

Default Follow up to Pete K post on HD LED headlights

Okay, I've ridden at night a few more times, and I haven't changed my initial impression about the lights not being as bright as I expected, and that the horizontal cutoff doesn't allow much light to go above the main beam, which makes seeing into corners at night unsafe.

I also went to my local HD dealer to ask about this, and they took me back to the service area, where another customer's bike had the LED headlights. They switched them on in the shop for me to compare. I didn't have my bike that day, so I couldn't compare directly, but I did compare to another customer bike that had the regular stock halogens, and the LEDs looked brighter, and also appeared to have a wider beam pattern than my LED headlight. So, at some point I need to ride my bike to the dealer and do a direct comparison to see if the LED headlight on my bike is not bright enough. HOWEVER, the beam pattern still had a very sharp horizontal cutoff, even on high beam, which, as I have noted, doesn't give much light above the beam, to help you see into corners when the bike is leaned over.

NOTE: I also will copy and paste this info into other sections of the HD Forum, where headlight discussions have taken place.

Regards, Pete K

Pete,

I understand your point. My wife's car (HID headlights) also has a sharp horizontal cutoff, which is fine because cars do not lean into turns...

Maybe your headlight are adjusted too low? (sorry if it has been suggested already as I have not read all the posts in this thread).

I also prefer a less sharp horizontal cutoff for bike headlights. I just installed the new Truck-Lite LED headlight and I can't wait to see how it performs. I have a feeling that because the TL is not a projector light (like HID or HD LED), it will not have a very sharp cutoff.

I have the same experience with the dark corners when leaning into turns. Enough so, that I am considering which is worst - Not seeing down the road OR 2) not seeing into a turn. I live in a very twisty area and the 'black' cornering is nerve racking.

Recommendation: Where do you ride? If it is twisties like me, consider the sharp lines and dark corners before dropping a grand on lights.

My setup: FLHTC - LED Headlight and LED running lights.

Question: is anyone running Motolights with a similar setup and do they provide the cornering light I am missing?

Did you buy this as a kit or did you piece it together? Any pictures of your bike at night maybe from the driver seat and from the front?
