I agree with the other comments about why he doesn't sell it outright. Maybe I'm overly cautious but it very quickly raised my 'Sounds too good to be true, what's the catch' flag.

Appraised for $43k...
Others selling for $60k...
Will trade for a <~$30k bike + cash ("how much" is really the question).

One phrase comes to mind...

"If it sounds too good to be true...."

My brother would, but he's a Stang freak. Not my style though.

Now, if it were a 67 Camaro with the old 302ci circle track engine? I'd give it a thought.

Lets see, the car appraised for $43k and could bring about $60k if he sold it. Instead, he wants to trade you for your $25k (approx) bike. Sounds too good to be true right? Probably is.

something just doesn't add up here, if the stated amounts are correct, then doesn't seem to be "fair" for both.
