Wanting to know the limits of a 6 gal fuel tank, I decided to test the waters today.
Traveling 2-up fully dressed in leathers, we top the scales "well over 400#"..
2008 RG, Xied's, heavy duty breather, and Rush slip ons with 2" baffles......Rt 2 thru ME, mountain passes in NH, then main roads back home.....at times speeds were 15 over posted limit.
The fuel light came on with 44 miles remaining showing.....showed 'low' with 10 miles remaining showing.......finally pull in and filled up.....
304 miles on last tank and needed 5.5 gals to fill
The more I ride this bike, the more impressed I am with it
I noticed the miles remaining adjusts to the load... I was going up a long hill on the highway and it dropped to like 28 miles to empty, the other side of the hill as I coasted down with little load on the engine it went back up to about 33 or 34.
That's great mileage. I've never been in a position to really go for it as far as running the tank dry. Might just have to try it sometime. I've gone 240 miles and put 5.1gls in.
55 MPG, huh? Were you going downhill all the way? I just ran a tank on my '09 Ultra in 6th gear on the highway and was happy I got 42 MPG. Stock motor with two up.

Yup...42 MPG for me yesterday.
Stock everything.
New bike...motor may need more breaking in.
My carb'd-built motor Street Glide gets better mileage than this so far.
