I think the base unit is Kuryakyn, and keep the I-Pod in a Otterbox. It's water proof and you can still operate the I-pod.

Dude, those ARE the best I've seen so far. Kinda pricey, but I like the simplicity of them.

I use a Ram Mount iPod holder. With a different attachment, I also use this mount to hold my GPS.

Here is the method I used to mount my iPod on my bike.

Zip ties, industrial velcro (not standard hook and loop), 1 ft 3.5mm wire from Radio Shack, 1in x 1in mounting base.

Simply turned the mounting base upside down, cut vlecro to match the mounting base. Zip tied base to bar. Used 2" circle of velcro on back of iPod. Will zip tie 3.5mm jack to bar once I finalize on which bar to mount. Works great, no fear of it falling off. That commercial grade velcro (bought at Lowe's) really holds it in place. SImple to unplug and put the iPod in my pocket when I get to where I am going.

Photos are below. Currently it is on the right bar, but I think I am going to end up mounting on the left side, anyway this gives you the general idea.

Cheap as the only thing I had to buy was the wire. Everything else was leftovers from other installs.
