Prosecutors have dismissed the traffic ticket issued to a Morris woman suspected of causing a May 2 crash that killed a motorcyclist, while they investigate filing more serious charges at a later date.
<SNIP>
He said it was necessary to dismiss the traffic ticket before Hunt's first scheduled court appearance, which was set for Monday, June 8, to avoid potential double-jeopardy issues.
Now ...if they fail to file more serious charges "at a later date" and she slides on the incident entirely, then there'd be a reason to get upset. But dropping a "traffic ticket" in the interest of being able to charge her with more serious offenses...it's all about picking your battles.
I guess it pays to read the entire article, huh? Can't comprehend what cha' don't read...(talking about me)
We have a similar case down here where a Lady was driving he husband home from the Country Club at an excessive rate of speed. Police have estimated her speed in excess of 100mph down city streets. She lost control of her Mercedes which hit a GMC pickup killing both people in the truck.
The two in the truck were Medical Doctors. Can you smell "lawsuit"?
Anyway this happened back in Feb. and she is still not in jail awaiting a Grand Jury indictment.
In both case it seems the investgators are crossing their t's and dotting their i's.

Looks to me the prosecutor is going to file more serious charges (probably vehicular manslaughter) - as they should. No different than driving drunk and killing someone.
Someone shoots someone with a gun and it is all you see or hear on the news for weeks. Some dumb biotch runs down a law abiding citizen so she can have shiny nails and its just a blip on the screen.
I read the ENTIRE article... and my comprehension is the accident happened over a month ago and all the cops did was issue a ticket and then dismissed it. If you want to defend the police and courts go ahead

Don't get your panties in a wad because they dismissed a traffic citation.
If they dismiss her of all charges, then get upset. Until then, let them (as someone else already stated) "cross their T's and dot their I's" so they have a rock solid case against her and she gets some REAL justice.
I'd rather see that happen than her paying $75 in traffic court and getting away with murder!
Do you think they're gonna let her walk on all charges? That's a serious question. I'm assuming (from your forum name) that you're a LEO of some sort. What's your professional insight (leaving emotion out of it)? Do you really think they'll let her slide?
