Well, I have never been much of a believer in extended warranties either. However, I did by one for my '06 Ultra. Didn't have a clue that it included tires but it does, or at least what I bought does. Had less than 1K on a rear tire and got a nail in it. Plugged it, rode to the dealer and got a brand new tire including labor. The only requirement is that you have at least 3/32" tread left on the tire. This is my only time to use the ESP but this feature is real nice.
I bought a 3 yr ESP (no tire/wheel policy) for my '06 King back in March. I figure if the bike had true duals & stage 1 on it when I bought it, that shouldn't be an "out" if I have an issue down the road. Cosmetic changes or doing oil & fluid changes done by myself shouldn't either as long as I have the receipts and log the dates of the maint. If I have the engine modified internally, then I wouldn't expect them to honor any issues w/ the engine.

I've used it twice for tires, one front & one rear.
If you modify your bike in anyway they wont warranty.
That's not necessarily true. Most times they will. Especially if your A.B.S. fails, and you added a stage 1. One has nothing to do with the other so they will warranty. Now, if you had E.F.I. problems after adding stage 1 they could argue, but Harley's pretty good about honoring their warranties.
what does the extended service plan go for, and has anyone ever had repairs under the plan that actually cost more than the plan?
I purchased the 5 year extended with the tire/wheel coverage for my 07' UC for 1495.00. I have not had to use the tire/wheel part yet. So far total parts and labor has been over 3000.00 dollars that the ESP has covered. They have never giving me a hard time about covering the work that needed done. This included clutch and both cam tensioner along with new oil pump assy just to name a few things. These were all replaced after I had 80,000+ miles on the bike. Couple weeks ago I needed a Transmission Compensator which ESP covered with 90,000 miles on my UC.
I have had warranty work done on my 06 ultra that cost fours times what the warranty
cost. My hat is off to Digger53 with 90000 on his 07 I have 70 thousand on my 06
I thought that was a lot of riding.
I bought it and am glad I did. I put a $4000.00 set of 3pc. billet wheels on my bike and at some point hit a large pothole and bent the hoops. I didn't even realize it, until I took it in for a new rear tire and they called me and said that the wheel was bent, and couldn't put a new tire on it. I had them call the ESP and they not only paid for the wheel to be fixed, they paid for a new tire too. All for $50.00.
A couple months ago, got a flat, while a couple hours from home and called the local Harley stealer and they came and picked me up and put a brand new tire on for me, again- $50.00
I say it's worth every penny.
I know a guy who bought a SE Ultra and the motor had some issues, They put a brand new motor after he racked up 20000 miles. That would have been very expensive......
