Default Oil Temp Sender

Well, after last year's accident I'm finally getting the replacement DCC fairing setup for the bike. I have a set of gauges, one being the oil temp, that I'm installing. Before the accident the temp gauge I had was the Harley 1.5" where the sending unit went inline within the oil return line. I tested the new gauge (Auto Meter) using that sender and it didn't work. The new gauge has it's own threaded sending unit and I was pretty sure there's a location (threaded plug?) on the oil pan where I can install this new sending unit.

Would someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction?

2005 Road King Classic.

Thanks much,
Brian

Use the plug that's labeled crank.
