Default Backrest and seat?

Hi all,
Getting my 06 RKC ready for a big voyage coming up and decided to splurge and get
the driver adjustable backrest from HD. Seemed OK at first, but slowly realized that it is pushing me
too far forward in the seat making it actually less comfortable; even with it pushed all the way back on the adjustment.
I pulled it off at lunch today and took a cruise and was shocked at how much room I was missing out on. I was
thinking of getting a Sundowner seat just for more comfort, maybe this will give me more room, too?
I'm 6 ft, 225. Any input would be helpful!

John

Sundowner will getcha lower, great seat. I pulled my backrest apart and bent back the supports (with heat). Now it feels the way it should, perfect! 6'3" and never ride without it. Highly recommend the Cruiseboards for the ultimate comfort combo.

Yeah, what he said on the seat. It's the best. As for the backrest, when you're changing the seat and it's off, remove the 2 front mounting bolts for the backrest. Shim them up with another nut or washers UNDER the bracket. About 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch will move the top of the rest back about 1 inch. If you need longer bolts, put in longer bolts.

Thanks bounty. I did notice that your backrest is more layed back than mine. That alone looks more comfortable. I'll try that.
I am still going to get the seat from Chicago HD. Going for the Iron Butt 1000 miles in 24 hours; don't think the stock seat would
work for me. My hind end gets sore after 100 miles on the stocker.
I've looked at the Cruiseboards, but wasn't sure of how they would look. After seeing them on your bike, I like them! Probabally order them the same time!

Spartns,
Good thinking, then I'll be able to experiment a little!
