Default Simple GPS/MP3 Question

Wife and kids are getting me a GPS for fathers day for my SG. When the built in MP3 is being used, does the volume get controlled from the handlebar controls (I'd assume so), and can you skip songs via handlebar controls, or does that need to be done on the GPS unit?

Thanks guys (and gals)

The GPS will plug into the AUX port on your radio, and you will control the volume of your bikes speakers with your handlebar controls, or the radio control. There will also be a master volume on teh GPS which you can adjust. As far as scanning through songs, that will most likely have to be done on the GPS itself.

+ 1 to that. My Zumo 550 with the MP3 player and XM Radio works like HDRider2002 says...

I use the Garmin Nuvi 760 through the aux port ... as noted ... volume is controllable with handlebars. I can not switch the MP3 player through the handlebar.

A friend has the Garmin Zumo 550 with the XM subscription (I have a Roady XT for my satellite radio which I use separate from the GPS). I tried the Zumo for about 50 miles on a trip last week. It is a nice unit and the XM signal worked pretty well. I could not switch the stations through my handlebar controls, but the volume worked like the Nuvi 760. I didn't play MP3s but my assumption is you can't control them through the handlebar either.

I have the Zumo 550 also, and as stated you can control the volume through the handlebars but any other selections must be made using the Zumo itself. Also, make sure you turn the voulme to max on the GPS and use the handlebar controls after that...
The music will mute when the GPS unit speakes for a route instruction...just FYI.
