You may not have an issue
my dealer tells me it's heat and moisture related
the faring on the ultra wont let the radio cool properly

your configuration is different from mine and your radio may never give you trouble.
when you wash your bike try not to get the radio wet. is what i was told by the dealer.
hopefully this will be solved soon because it's getting me down on the bike and that's not good
I question that part. My radio works great and it don't get much hotter than it does here.

I did get a CD stuck once, but turning the Bike power off and on a few times and hitting the eject button did the trick. I course I noticed the cd was out after I came back to the bike draggin my saddle behind me.. Those ejection seats work great! (of couse that last part is a big fat lie.)

Yes I did too.
My first radio had no issues for the first six months.
The second didn't last a week before problems began to show.
The dealer tells me that Harmon Kardon didn't initially understand the durability standards that are required.
The Harmon Kardon company makes the best radio in the world (according to some)
Harley wanted to add the features Mp3,cdrw,navagation capability, and bluetooth.
All this plus integration with the intercom and the cb may have been overwhelming. to some one who is not used to the conditions that a motorcycles go through.
Best is not always best for you.
Hot is Hot
the heat in your area is dry heat.
the heat in my area is not as hot on the degree scale but it's much higher on the humidity scale.
this produces what my dealer says the Harmon Kardon radio likes least water and heat.
I do get your point.
I personally think its the high end sound equipment that is not designed for durability and multi function but, what do I know.
gotta jet

I have a hard time believing its a heat issue guys. The heatsink on the side of the radio is very serious compared to the Radio Sound. The amplifier in the radio is what will create the most heat, and it has its own thermal protection circuit. In my 06 EGC, I have an Ultrasound rear speaker system witgh the amp velco'd to the top of the radio--trust me--i beat the s**t out of the amp, which create even more heat. Never had any kind of problems

Now injectors--thats another story

Have had some problems with mine. Just the other day coming back from Myrtle Beach Ralley the radio quit playing but I had a full screen showing FM station. Tried shutting down radio but could not turn it off. Pulled over and completely shut down bike and re-started it and still no sound. Did this three time before it finally started to work. This has happen several times but would always reset if I shut off the radio. Also when I pick up the bike in Nov. of 05 they did the update. Bike is due to be serviced in 1000 miles will have the dealer check it out.

Is'nt the radio volume suppose to automaticly get louder to adjust for road noise?Mine does on the RG and if my brain cells are correct the salesman told me that.

I am on my second radio also. The aux plug would not accept the plug ,which allowed water to get in but the main reason for replacement was display,I also had problem with radio just stopping. When dlr went to replace it the ant end was broken off in the radio. Not a very good design at all,but the radio unit does play good otherwise.Hog tunes is what made the difference though.

I have issues with mine, playing a regular cd will skip, a MP3 cd seems to play just fine. I have been to the dealer 2 or 3 times now about this problem and now it getting old, I'll take it back again and be more stern.

Yes the volume is supposed to go up as speed increases But not when you turn off the AVC (auto volume control) the avc has three levels push your left radio control button "in" the screne should change to bass, fader, volume, and ect. keep pushing the button "in" until AVC is highlighted then push the left radio control button up or down until you get the desired level of AVC control.
