Any body besides me having trouble with the radio on there '06.
I'm on my second in ten months of ownership and it's going south too.
Called the shop today and they think maybe that there's a problem across the board.
I was told that the bike will not run without the radio installed.
I was also told that the '07 will have the benefit of a redisgned radio.
Love my bike hate the radio.
guess there consquenses for buy the first year of anything.
My radio's display was blank right off the showroom floor, the dealer replaced it and I later installed the software update the HK provided, no problems since, wife and I both thoroughly love it ....whats the trouble your having...?
I haven't had a problem with the radio itself, but I keep having problems with the microphone sets and being able to communicate rider to passenger. Have done the new download. Radio works, headsets hear the radio, but no talkie bwtween the two of us.
How many miles do you have on yours?
Here's my story
1st radio
volume would get louder all buy it's self
went in for service told dealer
no problem need update ( problem solved )
as I left dealership gauges go dead engine light comes on (pull over)
everthing returns too normal (think that it resets itself)
get back to work (no problems)
start to leave for home controls will just barley work gauges play dead a couple of times
call dealership take back
dealer gets stuck CD out (who knew) and discovers chip in CD that wasn't there when it went in
problem solved controls return to normal
1000 miles later
display goes blank
2nd radio
volume gets louder by it's self (1 time)
listening to weather band and notice that left side of display has half of the harley emblem middle has weather band info right side has half of the harmon kardon logo
call dealer he says he thinks that they are going to offer an '07 radio that's supposed to be improved.
Dealer says the heat from the headlight fries the radio
haven't even tried the two way to know if it has issues
you run with passing lights on all the time that creates more heat.
Dealer also cautioned about getting it wet.
guess they thought we only ride on sunny days and never wash.
CD problems, no skipping just stops every so often. Picks up right where it stopped. At dealer now or 1K service, they are looking into problem. Upgrade of programming did not seem to help.
Rip it and go with a kit from Biketronics with a Pioneer or Sony Deck and a set of HogTune Speakers.
F the Factory.
89FLHT - Pioneer AM/FM/CD/MP3 Deck with 4 J&M Speakers jammed in the fairing.
My radio seems to cut out at times. Not sure if I had the CB on or not (maybe trying to come in) I am going to keep an eye on it. It sure could have had better speakers!
