your at the edge of the time at which my radio started to give me trouble.
I wash my bike alot that could have an effect on my problems.
Regardless @ 20K+ this should not be an issue!
Every time my radio has gotten wet from rain, the cd player has acted up. On a recent trip, I had a couple of occasions where the cd player skipped after a light rain. Just this past weekend, with no rain whatsoever, the cd player quit working altogether...would start to count the seconds for a track and then, right at 10 seconds, it would start over. It did this about a half-dozen times and the only way I could get it to stop was to eject and reinsert the cd. Worked fine after that.
water seems to have an effect on the preformace of this radio.
I read stories about military projects that were developed and worked great until they were subjected to weather
I hear the 07 radio has been redesgned.
to date 8500 Miles
I've had problems with the
Radio
Front Motor Mount
Horn
and counting
Had 1000+ on mine and the radio would stop working and then later start working again. First they thought they found a loose wire. Going home it quit working again live 72 miles from shop. Next time I took it back they replaced the radio. So far it is still working. Maybe I need to put a cd in it and see if it plays it. Got the bike about 6 mos ago.
I have 10,000 miles on mine since August with no problems and I very rarely turn it off. I did the software update in November just because it was available. The only thing I noticed that changed was changing songs on the CD is much faster after the update. It used to take a few seconds to change songs but now it's almost instant. Also, changed to Hogtunes speakers at all 4 corners. They made a huge difference. Thanks PEZ!
I'm seeing a mixed bag of replies some people have issues some have no problem, any number of varaibles could be contributing to this. Some people got lucky and have no issues. Some, like me, have had them from the first six months on. I like you had almost never turned my radio off until it began to act-up. I think the radio is one of the better features of the bike thats why it makes me mad when it messes-up. The dealership told me that as of three weeks ago I was the only radio problem they had. last week they were up to 5. What ever it is it seems to be more prevelent in the SouthEast.
Have a 06, two weeks old, going in for first service Friday (1000 mile).
Going to have injectors checked, stumbles when cold ( other Ultras didn't)
Radio works good, but has shown a blank preset of radio stations, turned it off and presets came back, hope that's not a indication of things to come, will advise dealer of problem.
Anything else I should advise dealer of or have them check?????
He also asked me if I wanted to have Syn oil put in, then said if I changed my oil every 3000 miles to go with regular Dino, said Syn makes the bike nosiy, I bever noticed this on my other Ultras, coments on this???? I am aware of Amsoil..
