I finally got mine and have not found a cut and clear diagnosis. Do i Need new cables or wiring? They are the Standard 10" going on a 2009 Road glide. I have read you dont need to change anything on a roadie others have said they changed it all. I just want to know if you HAVE to change anything? Thanks for everyones help.
I do know they are prob open but in all fairness i dont need someone trying to sell me more than what i need. Just looking for people who have done this already and what they had to do.
I have WideGlide bars on my RG & the cables & wiring "just fits". THey are called 10" Mini-Apes by the MoCo.
I am also looking into some MonkeyBars or possibly MeatHooks.
I really want to see some on a RK or RG so I can decide exactly what height I really want. I want something just a little higher & maybe wider than the WG's I been running for 5+ yrs now.
Paul is out of town but I got an answer for you guys.
On a 2003 and later Road Glide or Road King with 10" Monkey Bars you do not need to change your cables, wires etc. On anything taller than 10" bars, you do need longer cables, wires etc.
On an Electra Glide or Street Glide Monkey Bars installation, you will always need to make changes to your cables (assuming you are still running the stock setup).
We sell install kits (we call them "Supersize" kits) for most all different applications with all correct cables and other parts included. Pricing varies per kit, and there are almost a hundred different kits available due to all of the different models, years, handlebars, braided cables or black etc. You can always ask for your particular kit and we will gladly give you price and availability.
Hope this helps, please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions. Have a great day!
I Originally had 10" Monkey Bars/MeatHooks and didn't have to change cables, then i changed to 14" Monkey Bars/MeatHooks and had to go with +6 now I am at 18" Monkey Bars/MeatHooks and I had to install +10.
