Default Question on clutch cable replacement

I am going to switch to a longer clutch cable when I put on some new Khromewerks sweeper bars. My question is whether I can remove the clutch release cover without dropping the exhaust system? I think I can get all but one bolt out using a ball end hex wrench. The bolt in question is right behind the crossover exhaust.

I want to avoid dropping the exhaust at all costs. Does anyone have any tips on this?

Thanks.

Good luck with that! With the stock crossover, you are at least going to have to take the left side off and the right muffler. Then you can unhook it at the tranny bracket and take off the nuts at the flange bolts. You will also have to remove the rear bolt to the right rider floorboard and let it rotate down. You can then swing the exhaust upwards and tie it up to the rear footboard with a bungee. I just did this on the road glide that I put bars on.

+1 with the man (dawg) I just did mine on a 00EGC, with true duals and the ball allen it was a breeze.

When I did my bars, I had the stock header pipes on. I just loosened the right side of the exhaust at the cylinders and disconnected it from the right saddle bag support. I cant remember if I removed the bolt on the support bracket at the bottom middle or not. Then you can move the whole right side exhaust system up and out, giving you access to the bolts. Probably will have to remove the right floor board so you can pull the exhaust away from the bike. I did it probably a year and a half ago. You might also have to remove the left side from the saddle bag support. Just play around with it. It was pretty easy like that considering you will have it stripped down pretty far with the bags, seat, side panels, and gas tank off (if you are also replacing throttle/idle cables). The exhaust was loose but not off. So you do not have to remove the exhaust or any portion of it, just loosen it up.
