My Buddy's SG is acting weird. We installed Samson slip-ons and a SE air filter on it. It ran great with no back fire. Took it in for mapping and ran good when done. Little backfire. Missed real bad in Laughlin and was told when the bike gets warm it protects itself by shutting off a cylinder. Bike was stalling and coughing. We accepted this answer. Last night it was doing it again. It was only 65 degrees outside. The air temp guage was pinned. What is that guage for anyway. Certainly not the engine? I am baffled. I am also wondering if I installed the exhaust and air filter on wrong.
Yea, seems like it is going into heat management mode from your description. If the temp was 65 degrees and the bike was being ridden normally it shouldn't be missing to keep cool. However, if the bike was idling a lot in stop n go traffic it can still overheat in 65 degree weather, although I would tend to think that something went wrong with the remapping. By the way what was it that was remapped? I assume it was the stock EFI module you're referring to-if it is and the normal stage 1 download was installed, that could be the problem. However if it was a SERT or PC III I would think there was an error in the mapping.
Take it to the dealer and have the map rechecked. My SG started running bad (similiar symptoms) after I had about 100 miles on it. Took it back and the tech told me it lost the download and reverted back to the "default". Ran good on the way home, but it's been raining ever since. He told me he's had to reload about 5 or 6 bikes after thay've been on the road awhile. Good luck.

OK folks! I'll pass this on to my Buddy. He is going to take it in to get his tour pack and blacked out front end installed so he'll also get it checked again. (All he got was the standard remap from the dealership when you install exhaust and intake) I am going to recommend a sert like the one on my road king. I love the way it pulls. Thanks again!
