this really worried me about adjustables, to the point where i pulled my rockers out and re-used the stock rods for my cam swap. i know there are hundreds of thousands of sets of adjustables out there with no issues, it just bothered me worrying about one backing off. glad your back on the road.
Another GMR big inch budget build bites the dust! At least ya got 3K out of it.
WOW nice comment thank you very much.
have been in touch with abn and the issue he had with his engine , had nothing to do with us. An indy did the install for him and even that I do not think they are to blame for the pushrods coming loose. A quick install push rod is not the the best type to use for this application, If the Indy left it loose there waould have been a issue much sooner that 3000+ miles. That type of pushrod is prone to flexing and with that it has a much great chance to allow the jam not to work itself loose. For that very reason we have smith brothers much custom pushrods for us. They are 3/8 vs 7 /16 so there is no issue with the P/R touch the tube, 4130 chrome moly for strength heavy wall thickness and are adjustable but install can only be done through rocker box fo some they feel that is too much effort. But with the issue that just happened I would disagree 100% We have never had a failure on this pushrod.
Now by next week he will have the correct type of pushrod in that engine and he will be ahead of the game at that point.

HDWRENCH, how does that work -- pushrods are adjustable but have to be installed through the rocker box? I'm curious since I've had my Andrews rods come loose per my previous post above.
Skip's in Winchester,Va. do this build , if so tell me it was a part failure not something they did wrong putting it together! Heard a bunch of good thing's about Skip's and was leaning towards them to do a build for me when the funds allow!
As I stated before, GMR wasn't the cause of this. I don't feel that Skips was either. The bike ran perfect for 3000k miles. If it was put together wrong, i would of have had issues sooner. I wasn't aware of the quick installs being prone to failure untill today. I'll be ordering correct pushrods next week.
Glad to hear it worked out David! Now enjoy whats left of your trip! I've had adjustables in my shovel for 26 years with solids never had one work loose, of course I have to adjust them pretty regular
Abnmarine I know this might make yah feel a little better about your break down. I had a fuel pump pickup that cracked on my trip back from California last summer. I broke down 250 miles east of Reno NV. Had to pay $900 of the $1000 tow bill plus 2 extra days in the hotel for a lousy plastic piece that was a defect from the factory.
There wasnt a dealer any closer then Reno. I had my exhaust break in Kentucky also on the same trip. So I know your pain but Im glad to read your still riding
