Abnmarine- Dave, glad to hear there was a happy ending, lot of folks have followed you on this journey. Thanks for taking us along with you. Also that no one stole your bike or a fire, like you mentioned, I'm also glad it didn't cost you a fortune. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
David use a dowel or screwdrive to press up on your rocker once you move the piston of course if you can move the rocker this way I say your guide is most likely ok and not frozen.

You will struggle to move the valves in these modified engines. Spring pressures would be about 170 lbs on the seat, multiplied by the 1.65 rocker ratio I would say you have no hope...
This exactly why when I got a quote for my cam change. I specifically told the dealer no adjustable push rods. I'll pay the extra labor.
No need to throw the baby out with the bath water. there are hundreds of thousands of adj pushrods in use, failures are relitavely rare when installed right..

They were popular in automotive performance builds for a short while. I saw enough of them fail to know I would never use them.
I had a pushrod come loose while on the way to work a year ago. Started tapping louder and louder and finally the power just dropped off significantly -- running on one cylinder by then. Shut it down and had it towed in since I had few tools with me. It turned out to be one rod coming loose. They checked the others and reset the one that came loose, no further damage. Mine were Andrews adj pushrods, but I'm sure they all do it. At least now I know what to listen for! Glad to hear your ride is restored with little damage -- just a bad weekend. What's surprising about your failure is that it apparently happened without warning. That would REALLY suck.
