Hello all, first I am brand new to this site, so please bear with me.
For the first time, yesterday, I changed the oil in all 3 holes using HD syn.
The only real problem (?) I had was this. When trying to check the primary and the transmission oil levels, after adding the new oil, I could not tell how much oil I need to top off becuase I can not see the oil on the dip sticks since it was so clean. I even had a younger fellow with better eyes look. I now know I added to much tranny oil as it started to over flow. Then when I took it for a test ride, all seems to be well, but, I now hear a whining noise that starts around 20 mph and decreases to 0 when the bike comes to a stop. Do I still have to much oil in the tranny? The bike does seem to run fine.
Is there a trick that easily shows new oil on the dip stick?
I have a similiar problem with the primary oil. You are supposed to be able to see the oil in the bottom on the "resivoir" but it is so clean I cannot tell the level.
Your help is much appreicated.

You could try Redline Shockproof in the transmission as it looks like peptol bismol. Bright pink and easy to see on the dipstick. I don't like the Harley Syn3. You could use a flashlight to shine into the primary to see where the oil level is. There are numerous opinions on oil, this is jsut mine. An overfilled primary can cuase hard shifting as well.
