Default Grade 8 Zinc bolts

Has anybody had any trouble with these? I bought some at Home Depot to bolt my hitch on with. I would have bought stainless but they were out of the size that I needed.

Zinc is a coating, stainless steel is a bolt material. I guess it would even be possible to have a zinc ( coated ) stainless bolt.

Grade 8 should be grade 8 regardless of the coating or finish.

We have had trouble at work with imported bolts breaking. They were supposed to be the same grade as domestic bolts. We have found that you never know what you are getting with imported metals and bolts.

I am not sure where Home Depot gets theirs from.

I sure don't want any problem with a trailer going crazy. I think I'll go to Ace and get some stainless ones. Thanks!

I would have to say CHINA.

The stainless bolts could be a lesser grade.
Are grade 8 required for the hitch?

I purchase all my hardware from MSCDirect.com and only buy American made. They sell blister paks too. You know what you are getting and where it was made.

Do an internet search--Zinc Plated bolts usually indicates Hastaloy-- Stainless does not have the tensil strength of a regular grade 8 bolt, if you are **** you can search out a B7 bolt or stud, they will never break in any use you will put to them.
