I just completed my 1000 mile service and switched to Mobil 1 20w50 for the engine, Mobil 1 ATF for the primary, and Mobil 1 gear lube for the transmission. Everything seems to run more smoothly than before. Everything was $8-$10 a quart.

That's pretty much the setup I just switched to. Amazing difference. I'm sticking with that

I got some clutch slippage with my NT using German Castrol 0W30. Won''t ever do that again!! Only noticed it when in third or fourth gear under load, though.

On another note, you may want to check and see whether or not the Sportster guys are having any problems. If I'm not mistaken, their primary and crankcases are one unit. If there were any problems, I'm sure they would have found them by now.

I didn't remember who said it or where I saw it. I'm still perplexed about why you had slippage with the stock spring when I haven't heard about others having that issue including me with a nearly identical setup. I asked the service mgr. at the local shop and he said the stock springs have not been a problem after cam changes in his experience. I would tend to just change the spring, but it should increase the lever tension. How does yours feel?

The thing that concerns me is that the Mobil 1 15w-50 seems to shear to a 30 weight oil in the crankcase, as documented by Skip in the oil section. So that kind of negates buying 5 Qts of it just to include the primary.
