Angry Dealer wants to keep my SG for up to 2 months

I recently bought a new SG and the day I brought it home I noticed large paint blob and run on the front of the tank by the inner faring. I called them that day and was told to bring it in for them to look at it. I was told that it needed to be replaced and it would take up to 60 days for me to get a new tank. I told them it wasn't a problem and to order it and call me when it comes in. They told me they needed to remove my tank, send it in, and wait for my new one to come in. Does this sound right?

That's frickin' crazy!!! Call another local dealer and see if they want to do it the right way to earn your business in the future.

I had a similar problem with a front fender. They ordered it and then when the new one came in they needed the old one for the warranty approval but they can order it and you can drive it until the new tank comes in, otherwise tell them you want a loaner bike for the time your bike is laid up.

Thanks guys. I thought something didn't sound right. I was going to tell them that I'll bring it back in the winter but I knew they would forget all about it by then. I have a feeling by the way they were acting that this might be a battle. Is there a main HD customer service dept that I can call if they aren't willing to budge?
