Default gps

I have a gps for a car with the windshield holder, I was wondering if any one has ever used one of these on the bike, will it hold to the windshield on the bike and can ya keep it plugged into the cig lighter for long periods of time?

I'd say there would be a zero chance it would stay on your windshield with all the vibration. Want to risk seeing your GPS bouncing down the highway after it falls off?Better off just getting a handlebar mount from someone like RAM.

+1 on falling off. Mine occasinally comes off just from the heat of the sun.

Default gps mount

I've got my garmin mounted on the gas tank door with the windshield mount. I used Gorilla glue to hold it tight. Didn't trust just the suction part of the mount. There is very little vibration at the tank when at idle and slower speeds and none at road speeds. I ran the power wire along the console then under the seat to the battery. It works great in this location and is very easy to see and operate. I've hit plenty of bumps in the last year since I put it there and it hasn't bounced off yet. Send me your email and I will send you a pic of how it looks. I tried to add the pic to this post, but it was real big. Not sure if that's OK with the forum rules.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 760 and wouldn't even try the suction cup on the motorcycle. I have used the suction cup a couple times in my truck. It's fallen off once and had I been on the bike it would have been clunking across the pavement. I use a Ram Mount on the handle bars. Very secure and easy to see.

I rod from NYC to Buffalo having the gps temporally attached to the windshield with no problems.

First I bought Tomtom 930 and installed it to my bike with Ram-mount. Had difficulties because you can't hardwire the thing because it's 5 V. Had to hide the cicarette lighter adapter and 5 v adapter under the saddle. Could not see the thing in daylight because of the lack of brightness. Bought Scala Rider headset to listen the thing instead. Their bluetooth wheren't compatible with each other...

After all this I'm pretty sure the suction cup would not hold the thing up either!

Now happy with Zumo 660 hardwired, bright enough, compatible BT with my Scala Q2 headset AND Ram-mounted. Lesson learned ;-))

It will not stay on. And then there goes your GPS tumbling down the road. Buy a RAM mount. They are not that expensive but they are top quality.

Pick one up here.

I have a garmin 260w and have used the windshield mount for over a year with no problems. You need to slightly wet the suction cup then apply to the windshield in the lowest position on the windshield above the inner fairing. As far as the power cord yes I wrapped the cord around the handlebar on the left side. You just need to be careful with the garmin power plug end due to size will hit the tank if you go to lock your forks.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 750 and also use the auto windshield mount on my RKC windshield. I made a lanyard out of parachute cord that I put around my windshield bag just in case the mount lets go. It never has.
