I have a 2007 road king and it dies on me after a long ride when i get off the free way and get to the first red light the engine is not over heated and it startes right back up again with the start button but if i don't keep a little throtal open it dies agian.
I was told that i may have a start/stop switch that is going bad does that sound likely or some thing els.
I all ways fill up with new gas and i run the gas additive sold at harley and only add 1/3 of a bottle each fill up.
What els could be the problem the harley shops have tested the sencers and sead all is well with them.
I have an 07 SG. It has done the same thing once or twice, probably more. Get off the interstate from a sustained speed for an extended time. Come to a stop and it idles down and stalls. Starts back up with a little throttle and seems fine after that. Hasn't done it in a while and I never really gave it much thought beyond making a mental note of it.
I wouldn't think it would be a bad switch, if it was, you wouldn't have to throttle it to keep it running. If the switch was bad and shutting off, it wouldn't matter how much throttle you give it, it would still shut off.
