I find that it has a slight dead spot at about one quarter throttle; that the friction is a bit more than I prefer; and that it tends to go dead for a millisecond over some bumps. Nit-picky things. Overall, it seems to work well.
I gather that installation of cruise control is plug and play (after dealer activation). Unfortunately, police bikes are not wired for it
Like it alot except when I hold on to the throttle hand grip and turn off the cruise then bike slows down electronically at a reasonable pace unlike the throttle cable. No big deal as I'm used to it by now.
I think the TBW on my 09 works better then the one on my 08 does. The TBW on the 08 always seems sluggish. Dealer says its normal. Both work ok but neither has the nice crisp feel of the cable setups. One good thing about TBW is you can change grips easily and not have to worry about dropping those little brass deals that go on the end of the cable in the grip.
Rut Ro.... Sounds like I have an issue with mine... Two pages and nobody mentioned it not returning all the way to idle all the time..... Mine will not always return to idle, it was delivered that way, stealer said that it was normal, depends on where the trottle was when it was shut off.... I am really starting to dislike this outfit.. Other than that, I like it.
I'm 50/50 right now. It's just something else that can go wrong and it's not quite as responsive as a tbw but so far I haven't had any problems. I once had a throttle wire break at the handle and it was a pain to pull manually to hobble home. Not sure what I would do if it broke now since there isn't anything to grab. I would be curious as to the cost difference between a broken wire and whatever else can go wrong with the new setups. Probably a lot more expensive.
