if ya want more room on the floorboards try ez shift and ez brake from florida. their shifter kit has extend shift arms front and rear which allow for plenty of floor board room. its a great upgrade. im also a life long heel shifter and wouldnt want it any other way. as far as loosenes its important to have the spline very clean and the bolt very tight and locktited...the locktite acts as a lubricant when tightening an allows you to get the bolt extra tight which is whats needed.
Like the heel shifter. I am long legged and I never have my feet tucked under me enough for the heel shifter to be in the way. Been thinking of looking into the floorboard extenders that move them out and forward 1 inch, Kury makes them I think.

I just put them(Kury) on my 01 EGC and the only issue is the break peddle,I can either go with a smaller pad or get a longer arm,not sure witch way ta go yet but its not a BIG issue just one to fix down the road.
First, the problem with heel/toe shifters has been chronic for years. With the importance of the ability to downshift, why Harley hasen't addressed this is amazing.
Second, A lubricate on the screw will help it seat better. People state loctite on the shaft and letting it sit overnight helps.
Third, new shifter arms will do if neither of the above don't work.
Four, changing the shaft can be a bear.
Thank you all for the input. There are other threads on this subject.
sorta like having two eight ball gear shift ***** in a stick shift chevy ain't it? i removed my rear one after i got the bike home from the dealership. definately isn't gonna be going back on. with size 14 boots, i need all the floorboard room i can get. already did the extensions, what a great idea that makes it more comfortable to ride.
