uneasy feeling
I have been riding for many yrs. But for some reason the last few weeks I have had this bad gut feeling when riding. I live in IL, and wow we have had are share of motorcycle deaths lately. A few weeks ago a large group of bikes was on a ride on a early Saturday morning, there was a car waiting turn turn letting the bikes go by, a car from behind rearend the waiting cars pushing the car waiting into the group of bikes killing 6 riders. The thing about that accident that really sticks with me is 2 of the riders killed where a married couple with 2 kids at home. That weekend alone we had 9 bikers killed, all by no fault of there own.
Not sure why I posted this I guess I am thinking outloud with some fellow bikers. Ride safe. Al

Life is what it is. If we crawl into a shell because of what we hear and see we will become someone we are not.
Take a few days off, get your head on straight and remember why you ride in the 1st place. Its part of the American Dream.

I have had those feelings before. Only thing that will cure it is to ride. Bad things happen to people all the time. Auto accidents, plane crashes, cancer, etc.
Thank the Lord for the time we have and get on your bike and RIDE!

Can get killed doing anything, why live in fear of doing the things you love. I'm a believer that when iit's your time, it's your time. I'm just hoping God has me penciled in for going at 90 with a hot 20 year old blond next to me.
I had just reintroduced myself to riding one year ago. Got the Harley, joined a HOG chapter and went riding. During my 3rd or fourth ride with the chapter on a weekend getaway, we had a terrible event take place. Lost two members that day. Something I had to witness and deal with up close and personal.
I really had to struggle with selling out and going back to Joe Cage Driver. But, you know what? I was having too good of a time with the Chapter and riding. Meeting nice folks. Making new friends. Going places I would not by myself. In case you haven't figured it out... I stuck with it. Yes, I think about that day each and every time I get on my scooter. Wouldn't have it any other way as it keeps me in check.
You have to decide for yourself but, some times, the positives out numbers the negatives. Good luck with the direction you decide to take.

My best friend was killed last year on his bike. I think that's a normal feeling you have about riding after someone gets killed. One person in our group sold his bike right after the accident and has never rode again. I thought about it after the accident and decided that since my friend is no longer living I have to stop living. It has changed the way I ride a motorcycle. I no longer take everything for granted when it comes to other bikers and caggers. I guess when it comes down to it I would rather die on my motorcycle then in some work place accident. Everyone please be safe.

I've been riding for over 35 years, on the street legally for 28. It seems like about two or three times a year I head out for a ride, and I get a weird gut feeling that today's not a good day to be riding. I listen to my gut, cut the ride short and head into the garage. Like I said it only happens two or three times a year and we are luck enough to be enjoy year-round riding here-so I decide to listen to that inner voice a live to ride again.
You're feeling a little "spooked" right now. Take a week or two away from riding. You'll begin to see lots of riders out there, and your cravings to ride will put it all behind you.
