Default Rg clark's custom shields

I have been speaking with Pat at Clark's custom shields in S.C. about a shield for my RG. His shield has less rake and stands more straight than the other aftermarket shields. I was hoping that someone here on the forum has used either their the 14" straight edge shield or the 14" half moon and had any luck with the buffeting problem. I have ridden the Ultra and there is a big difference, so I assume that the windshield being more errect than laying down has some influence on the buffeting. I have another thread out there somewhere about other aftermarkets. I have the +1" Clearview and still have the buffeting problem. No word yet on the Cee Bailey 16" Euro. Anyone tried it I would like to hear from you also. Also, if your under 5'-11", no need to respond. Not being an A**, just that everyone that is shorter does not seem to have buffetting problem with standard height or taller shield.
Thanks

Don't know about Clarks. I sold the Cee Baily Euro 16 because of wind noise (I'm 6'2"). Looked great but once I hit 50, I couldn't hear the stereo anymore. Went to a Clearview stock height. Much better, but still a little noisey on the highway. Will probably buy Hogg Chopps this fall when the bank account builds back up to get rid of the noise from below.

I (6'1") have a cee baileys 15" SERG and absolutely love no buffeting and can hear the stereo just fine. Best shield I have tried hands down and I have tried alot.

Just recently purchased a 10" halfmoon from them, great people. I ride an 06 Ultra that had the stock 12" shield and with my height I was constantly looking under or over the sheild. The 10" seems perfect, and I get air flow right at forhead and helmet level which I like, but might get another from them in a 13" for longer hauls to keep all air going over me. My sound system definately sounds clearer and the look of the shield has really brought attention to my bike.

I met them personally as I had some business in the area. They are very good people and hand make every shield, I watch mine being made while waiting. The nice part is they stand behind their product. Beware of imitators stating similar designs, they are no where near the quality of what you get from Pat & Robin.

I am surprised that you didn't like the Clearview +1. I have tried several windshields and the Clearview GT Small that I have works fantastic, I am 5'10". Does your Road Glide have the front fork air baffle? If not, I would suggest that you try that first before spending more $$$ on windshields. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
IMO, the Clearview has the ideal rake. I have tried a few Cee Bailey's that stood up straighter and there was definitely more buffeting. Another new windshield that you might want to look at is the Windvest for Road Glides. Here's a link to a good discussion on SERG windshields that should be applicable to all Road Glides: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.p...ic=34157.0;all

I know what your saying but with all the differences in riding posture, seats (I have an Ultra seat which sets taller than the RG seat) I also have the baffle and the lowers, theres lots of factors that are going on. That 1" makes a lot of difference believe me. Just like putting a 1/4" wickerbill on an Indy car rear spoiler, it doesn't take much to make it change. Long story short, I have ordered 2 shields from Clark's hoping that 1 of them will be satisfactory. As I have described along with many others, I am not getting much wind, it is a buffeting (harmonic in nature) almost like having an electric toothbrush strapped to your helmet. It makes my face itch and signs and on coming cars look fuzzy. Can't tolerate this much longer. If these don't work I may go to a +2" CV, although I am not crazy about the long tall look it has. Thanks for your reply and I am glad yours worked out for you.

Quality, appearance, function, value. Without question the #1 shield on the market, period!
30X more scratch resistance/20X more impact resistant than typical acrylic shields. Airflow calculated and adjusted to quiet & comfort the rider's environment.

this may very well be the one i need. If these don't do it guess i'll end up with a pile of windshields. Thanks for the heads up

I had Clearview custom-build me a 1.5" over stock, stock rake, for my '09 rg. Pix to follow. I really like it. I had a +2' standard Clearview on my '04 rg. I like the stock rake shield much better. About the same wind/buffetting benefit, with much less windshield in front of you. Not as good looking as some of the curvy ones (CB), but very functional at slab speed. I have a torso the length of someone 6'1". Highly recommend.
