I use the K&N filter mainly because of the welded nut on the bottom, making replacement easy. Fight with the HD filter once and once is enough.

The reason I was asking about the filter was mostly becuase you can get away with changing the mobile every 5K but the hd filter says 2500. well that doesn't really work to well so I was hoping to find a option for the filter that will hopefully be just as good as hd filter.

Where did you find the info on changing the HD filter every 2500? The info from my '06 manual states that an oil change is every 5k and nowhere does it specifically state the use of synthetic over dino.
IMHO its best to stick with the HD filter, although I am tempted by the K&N as I know they are good products, (been using their air filters for over 20 years). Before I changed I would want to know the bypass pressure on the stock and the bypass pressure on the K&N.
I suspect its going to be difficult to determine the bypass pressure of the stock 5 micron filter.
If someone were to do a "poll" I am willing to be that the two filters with the highest usage will be the HD replacement filter and K&N with the nut on the can. I think that both are probably quite popular. I myself trust the K&N name.
Been running ATF in the primary for many years and countless miles in Evo's as well as TC's. That's what it is designed for. No failures to date. Plus you can change it every oil change for cheap. The primary oil contaminates with clutch material and should be changed often. Use your choice of oil in the motor and a GL5 gearlube in the tranny no matter what the MOCO has to say. I don't go cheap on filters and use the HD or K&N.
Mobil1 15-50 Synthetic $26.00 5qt. jug from Wal-Mart. Change every 5K miles.
Mobil1 75-90 Synthetic Tranny Oil $8.00 any auto parts store. Change once a season.
Castrol GTX 10-40 Dino $2.50qt for Primary from Wal-Mart. Change once a season. Using a synthetic in the primary is simply a waste of a good synthetic oil and a waste of money. Primary oil is not intended for lubrication. It is a coolant.
HD Super Premium Oil Filters. I buy 6 at a time from either Chicago HD or Zanottis online @ 20% off. Your filter is the weakest link in your lubrication cycle, why scrimp on it? It has the best filtering rating of any filter on the market. Change every 2500 miles.
Dayum, I luv oil threads.
I've never seen it in print but I also saw it in your post...
